Flock Beta 1.1 Preliminary Thoughts

What I’ve seen so far, I like. Flock is based on the Mozilla engine which means it’s based on Firefox, bottom line. So far, I have not used any of the blog features, as I paid money for ecto, and I like the convenience of that too much. I will probably post my review using Flock, and retrieve and tweak in ecto if it doesn’t do what I want. If you don’t use an external editor, like ecto or MarsEdit, or post to multiple blog systems, Flock is your dream come true. It appears you can blog from anywhere, it even adds a menu bar to YouTube videos and photos on Flickr and Photobucket. It also has hooks to del.icio.us, Facebook, Twitter, GMail, Picasa, and a whole bunch of others. It also has some sophisticated searching and time saving features. All-in-all, this was the “it’s about time” upgrade that disappointed early Flock adopters (*me*) were waiting for. I am putting it thru its paces here and at work, and I will have a more detailed review soon.

I just updated to the beta 1.09 since I am still on Tiger. I will see how it pans out and read your full review once you have played with it some more.
