Blogging From My iPhone

Blogging Internet Software Wordpress

I’m currently sitting at McChevron, having purchased some WiFi, and now I am blogging.

This is working pretty well, however, I am going to see if there is any kind of Web based alternative to the built in text editor in Wordpress. Obviously, when you think about the limitations of the iPhone as a text editor (the most conspicuos one being the lack of copy and paste, i.e. making a link to another page seems out of the question unless the IRL is short and you can enter it from memory), you can see the problem. Also, the rich text editor doesn’t seem to work at all. For short posts it isn’t too bad.

Back home and I’ve installed WPhone for Wordpress. I can now post with confidence from my iPhone. The interface is clean and easy to understand. Here goes; gonna save and post.

Rich text means that I can control the fonts and styling of the post in the editor without having to use that pesky markup, i.e. to make something bold, I don’t have to go bold I can just hilite the text I want to make bold and click a button. Similar to what you see when you make a comment here or when you fire up Word instead of Notepad.

McChevron has two hours of WiFi for $2.95, so I had lunch, and for the rest of the time (it was cooler there than at home) I drank soda and surfed on the iPhone until it basically ran out of standby time.

I am puzzled by the term “rich text” editor. Obviously, it must be an editor of rich text, but what is rich text? As opposed to . . . dirt poor text? Congratulations on the WiFi voodoo!
