Apple Products Stupidity Tech

I was reading this in Barron’s thru a link from The Unofficial Apple Weblog (TUAW). I don’t read Barron’s as a general rule, but this guy jus’ don’ get it, Lucy.

Shaw Wu, an analyst with American Technology Research, this morning asserted that the coming event “may be somewhat underwhelming” compared to both previous expectations and other Apple product launches. He says the pullback in the stock reflects a ratcheting down of expectations. In particular, he contends it is unlikely Apple will use Tuesday’s event to unveil any new Macs. “We continue to believe that MacBook Pro and MacBook are due for refreshes with more radical redesigns,” he says, but that they won’t be shown next week.

Of course they won’t be shown next week. Expecting to see new Macs at an iPod/iTunes event is really stupid. Face it kids, like it or not, the iPod is not a peripheral product for Apple, it’s a revenue generator. They need to be refreshed too.

Mr. Wu (love the name, BTW) is undoubtedly in the same gaggle of doofuses who expect to see new Macs at Apple’s yearly Worldwide Developer Conference (WWDC) as well. Gee, wadda ya think they’d be pushing at a developer conference? Oh, I don’t know, could it be, SOFTWARE? Then, when there aren’t any new Macs, they all go, “See, we told you so. No Macs–AGAIN! Let’s devalue the stock price.”

The new Macbooks, if there are, indeed, going to be new Macbooks, will more than likely be revealed at Macworld Expo in January. You see, it’s called Macworld ‘cuz that’s where they showcase Macintoshes. Goons.

UPDATE: Apple is going to have an event next Tuesday that will introduce… new Macbooks. Let’s see what the pundits will complain about this time. I’m predicting the lack of an announcement for iWork ‘09 will chap their hides.

What the hell are they thinking? So what if there is no new mac or ipod or even iphone? Apple is doing very well with it’s ipod sales and macs seem to be more popular thanks to the Vista disaster. I agree completely here.
