Flock Browser Beta
Posted on July 18th, 2006 by Steve
I just discoverd Flock, the new browser and I am testing it out now. How you might ask? You can set your blog account in Flock and then right click anywhere on a page in the browser, click “Blog This” and it opens an editor that incudes pictures and everything. I am including the URL to the version with Photobucket because”
- I use Photobucket to store my photos (you can set it up to use Flickr if you like that service).
- Flock blogging supports drag and drop photo uploading from Photobucket.
- Once so dropped, photos are scalable in the Flock editor.
- It has its RSS aggregator built into the sidebar rather than having it in your favorites.
- This is the easiest way to download the Mac version of Flock.
- When I blog, I can save the post on my local machine until I am ready to post.
This is a no brainer to me. Also, the Flock interface seems intuitive and pages render very quickly as opposed to Firefox and IE on Windows XP, I have yet to use the Mac version.
Blogged with Flock

I am already using the Diggo and Abe Vigoda extensions on the Mac version. I am using the BBCode one on the Windows version. They protest, but after a restart, they work fine and I have no problems whatsoever.

Steve, we’re experimenting with Firefox extensions support in the most recent two updates to Beta 1.
Users will be warned that the extension has not been tested with flock but will be allowed to proceed with the instal. As long as the extension doesn’t touch search or bookmarks, it should work - but no guarantees.
Wow, thanks Will. Someone besides my group reading my blog. This is a red letter day. I think the only thing that could make Flock better is full support of Firefox plugins, other than that, I have basically switched.

Yes, Steve, frightening concepts. I see you got an official hi there from someone from there. Very cool. BTW, the software and browser is nice.
Hey Steve,
Glad to hear you’re digging Flock and Photobucket together. Did you know that when you hover your mouse over someone’s PB hosted picture you can click a little icon in the bottom right corner of the image to see their photostream in your photobar? From there you can star them to add them to your photo favorites and Flock will notify you when they upload new pics. Pretty sweet, huh?
We just did an upgrade yesterday too that adds Photobucket sub-album support.
What could we do to make Flock better for you?
Cheers,
Will Pate

OHMYGHOD!! First Matt takes my advice in the forum on upgrading his Powerbook and now you download a piece a software I recommend. The world wouldn’t happen to be ending in big, freezing paroxsysms of random convulsions, ending in an Armageddon like denoument?
I just downloaded it and out it in my dock. I have my photobucket pix along with whatever web page I am using. I might play with it some more later.
